Monthly Dragon Age - September (8/9/2013)

It's so refreshing to see Shouji Sato art on the cover again. Too bad it's not for a different series... That's right, no news on HOTD this month. It definitely won't be back next month.

There was this ad, though, that was also kind of refreshing. If nothing else, it's the first proper mention of anything related to HOTD since April. Before you get excited, this is just an advertisement for the PS Vita adaptation of the new Highschool of the Dead pachi-slot game that has appearing in adult arcades across Japan. The Vita version will be out this October.

Dragon Age has been starting new series at an alarming rate over the last six months or so. I usually talk about those that look like they may be interesting enough to get picked up by a group someday. Well, I looked into some of these and discovered that Japanzai has recently started scanlating D.Y.N. Freaks and Inaba Rabbits, two series I've talked about. If you thought they sounded interesting, you can get them on their site, along with others I haven't mentioned (ex: The Day Haru-nee Did XX to Me). Now if only they will pick up Dolls Fall and Regards to Black Wife...

Just so you know, the dynamic of the Necro;Chronicle scanlation has changed a bit, which means it could take longer than usual to release c4 or it could take less time. The point is, I won't know how it's going to be until after we get this month's chapter done. Your monthly raws should be out by tomorrow.

Now that I've committed to the "monthly smut" I think it's time to explain it a bit. As many of you know, Japan's adult industry is more heavily regulated in some ways than in many Western countries. Namely, male and female sex organs must be subjected to varying degrees of censorship because they are considered obscene. I don't want to sound like I'm culturally narrow-minded, because I'm not, but I find it hilarious that in Japan you can't buy an adults-only movie without mosaics over the genitals but you can open up a manga magazine marketed towards teenagers and see an underage girl masturbating with a bidet. I understand the Western world has it's own brand of sexual hypocrisy rooted in orthodox Christianity, but this site is about Japanese manga, which is why I've committed to finding the lewdest, dirtiest scene (from an American perspective) in each issue and posting it. Think of it as my own private joke I'm sharing with all of you.

That being said, this month's winner (tentacle rape) will be in the new Triage X chapter, so I decided to go with the runner-up instead, even though it is relatively tame.

When you gotta go, you gotta go!

  1. Too bad that DxD shit takes a large part of the cover.

  2. Well another month more disappointment. *Activate Derp Voice* Oh well got a new Triage X to stare at the pretty pictures.

And now I feel the need to go out and buy a PS Vita just to get the HOTD game, even though it will most likely be in Japanese only. But who cares! It's still going to be fun to rage quit over it!

Anyways keep up the good work Turambar

    1. $60 plus shipping from Japan seems like a lot to spend on a game that will be extremely difficult and frustrating to play if you don't know Japanese.

I would recommend just waiting until someone posts the new original animation on Youtube or something since that seems to be the main draw. Or go to Japan and find one in a slot arcade. I have a feeling by the time I finally get over there the newness of the game will have worn off and it will be harder to find, not that I will be spending much time/money on gambling.

    2. Then again, playing it in Japan is not exactly better because not only are you not able to understand it, your spending money by the second. I'll just wait for the video.

    3. I really just trying to be stupid here, there is no way in hell I'm spending my money on this. Sony products haven't been ever keen to me aside from the PlayStation 1 and I would much rather be spending extra money on either anime dvd's, manga, or guitar equipment. I'd lose my mind trying to figure this out, though... I am currently learning some of the language.

    4. I have to agree with you. Sony hasn't done much in the last 15 years that made me want to spend my money on their products.

    1. That's cool. You can usually count on them to pick up interesting Dragon Age series. I'm sure they would have done Necro;Chronicle if I hadn't picked it up right away.

Incidentally, the monthly smut this month came from Dolls Fall. It's not usually like that, but then that wasn't the only case of urination in the chapter.

    2. I not foresee too much good for these girls on the picture. I'm right? :)

Judging by the first chapter those whose against the house roules are "punished" badly. :)

    3. Yeah, so far it looks like a horror/slasher series, like Bloody Maiden. It's a little early to say for sure, but it looks like the series will end when all but a few characters have been killed off.

    4. Yeah i think the same thing. But unlike the Bloody Maiden this manga seems (judging by the first chapter) a lot goryer and brutal and less ecchi. That scene in the first chap... huhh... It seems these girl also don't end well.

This is especially strange because the artist before this used to be drawing cute vanilla type hentais ang mangas.

    5. I've seen the first three chapters, and it's nowhere near as gory as Bloody Maiden was, though there is a lot less ecchi. The second chapter didn't even involve death or violence. I actually prefer when the gore itself isn't the focus of a horror series.

    6. "The second chapter didn't even involve death or violence."

I think the third chapter correct this mistake. I'm right? :)

I think that scene at the first chap more brutal than the BM, altought not that bloody, but... it was hurt to watch...

I also watch only the raw but it seems the story intersting...

    7. Without spoiling too much, yes, the third chapter is a lot like the first. Still, I haven't seen anyone get disemboweled or dismembered like in Bloody Maiden. The violence is more like Higanbana's dark realism so far. Nothing too gratuitous yet.

    8. Thanks the quick reply. I'm looking foward tothe next chapters.

Meanwhile Japanzai released the first chapter of the Dolls Fall.

  5. Any news on a digital (scanlated) version of Vol. 7? All I can find are volumes 1-6 (uncencored) and single chapters 26-29 (censored).

I think you mentioned, that either you or HOTDcups would upload volume 7 someday. Any progress on that? (Seems like we won't get Color Omnibus Vol. 2 so soon...)

    1. It's never coming from me. When HOTDcups moved on, we mutually agreed to drop the HOTD volumes.

  6. Jesus, has the HOTD brand been devalued so much that it gets a pachislot game instead of an actual game/VN? Please someone tell me that good news is on the horizon.....

    1. A proper game would have made sense two years ago, but it would make no sense now since there hasn't been much new material in so long. Even if this is only a pachi slot, it still means the series is carrying on in some way.
